"He Won 3 Elections But Was Shortchanged" Archbishop Fires In His Tribute to Raila

Catholic Archbishop Zaccheus Okoth has made the explosive claim that the late Raila Odinga won three separate presidential elections but had his results "shortchanged" each time.
The powerful tribute, which is now circulating widely, has ignited conversation among Kenyans mourning the fallen statesman.
Archbishop Okoth, in his widely quoted statement, praised the former Prime Minister's remarkable capacity for forgiveness in the face of what he described as repeated electoral injustices.
"Despite winning three elections and his results being shortchanged, Raila always forgave and moved on," the Archbishop stated.
The respected cleric highlighted Raila's history of reconciliation with his political adversaries, a theme that has defined much of his long career.
The Archbishop noted that despite the deep-seated grievances, Raila was always willing to engage in dialogue, "shaking hands with those pronounced as Presidents."
This tribute paints a picture of a leader who consistently chose national stability over personal ambition, a sentiment echoed by many of his supporters.
The Archbishop's bold claims have resonated deeply with a large section of the population who have long believed that Raila was denied the presidency on multiple occasions.
His words are being seen as a validation of their long-held feelings, coming at a time of immense national grief.
This reflection on Raila's political journey comes as the nation prepares for his final farewell.
Today, Saturday, his body is lying in state at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu for a final public viewing.
Later, a funeral convoy will transport him to his ancestral home in Bondo, Siaya County.
In line with Luo traditions, his body will stay overnight at his Opoda Farm residence before the final burial service tomorrow, Sunday, at Kang'o Ka Jaramogi.
