DCI Release Clear Photos of Notorious Gangster Who Killed His 2 Girlfriends and Stole All Their Property

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested 23-year-old Joseph Njoroge.

We are over the brutal killings of two young women in Nyeri County, in cases that have shocked residents and drawn national attention.

Investigators say Weru carefully planned both attacks, showing a pattern of deception and extreme violence.

The victims were identified as 28-year-old Mary Yamasei Merutuni and 22-year-old Beatrice Nyawira Nyokabi.

On 17 January 2026, Mary Yamasei left her rented home in Naro Moru after Weru persuaded her to accompany in Karogoto, Thiu Sub-Location.

While on a hiking track near Karogoto stream, the suspect allegedly struck her repeatedly on the back of the head, killing her instantly, before dumping her body in the stream.

Authorities later recovered a blood-stained stick believed to have been used in the attack.

Weru then returned to Mary’s home, stole household items including furniture, sold them at a second-hand shop, and even spent the night there.

Five days later, on 24 January 2026, Beatrice Nyawira Nyokabi was similarly lured to Ithe Kauno village near the Gura River.

Weru attacked her from behind, killing her, and later sold her mattress, bed, woofer, and other belongings at a second-hand shop in Karatina.

He allegedly intended to occupy her home.

Following intensive DCI investigations, Weru was arrested in Nyeri on 13 February 2026 and arraigned on 16 February, with a court granting 30 days' detention as enquiries continue.

During the probe, officers recovered key evidence, including his clothing, an imitation pistol, house keys, and items sold to shops, confirmed by CCTV footage.

Investigators continue to trace whether Weru may be linked to other crimes in Nyandarua, Nakuru, Nyeri, Laikipia, and Juja in Kiambu County.

Authorities urge anyone with information on missing persons in these areas to report to the nearest police station to help secure justice for the victims.
