Kiambu Senator Karungo Wa Thangwa, a close associate of Gachagua, disclosed details of the meeting, saying it took place late at night and involved candid and intense deliberations.
According to Karungo, Gachagua led the discussions on the future of the DCP party and the region while also addressing the country's political trajectory under his leadership.
One of the key issues discussed was the possibility of political leaders leaving President William Ruto's camp and joining Gachagua's DCP.
The former deputy president reportedly told the meeting that several leaders had already contacted him and expressed interest in moving to his political camp.
The issue sparked heated debate among those present, with leaders openly discussing whether the politicians seeking to cross over should be welcomed into the party.
After lengthy deliberations, the leaders reached a common position, although Karungo did not disclose the details of the agreement.
He indicated that the decision would be made public soon, while his brief remark, “Nikubaya,” suggested that the political situation was serious.
In his update, Karungo described the gathering as a small late-night meeting where leaders “burned the midnight oil” discussing the DCP party, the future of Mt Kenya and the country's direction.
He said Gachagua encouraged an honest conversation centred on reconciliation, unity and how to handle leaders seeking to leave Ruto's camp and join DCP.
Karungo added that the discussions were frank, intense and occasionally heated before those present eventually reached a common position.
