Speaking at a public event, Cherargei criticised what he described as repeated public attacks on Gachagua by some leaders in the ruling alliance.
He argued that political disagreements should be resolved through internal party mechanisms instead of public confrontations that risk deepening divisions.
"I want to ask Kimani Ichung'wah to respect you and stop this contempt (akuheshimu awache madharau)," Cherargei said.
He maintained that leaders should uphold mutual respect regardless of political differences and warned that continued public exchanges could undermine unity within the coalition.
The senator also called for greater discipline in Parliament, urging House leadership to enforce decorum during debates.
He said elected leaders have a duty to protect the dignity of public office by focusing on issues affecting Kenyans rather than engaging in personal political attacks.
Cherargei's remarks come amid heightened political activity as leaders reposition themselves ahead of the next General Election.
Gachagua and Ichung'wah have frequently clashed over political strategy, regional mobilisation and the future of Mt Kenya politics, reflecting wider differences that have emerged within the ruling coalition.
At the time of publication, Ichung'wah had not publicly responded to the senator's comments.
As political realignments continue, analysts expect debates within both the Kenya Kwanza coalition and the opposition to remain central to the country's political discourse in the run-up to the 2027 elections.
