The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Communications Director Philip Etale has called for a thorough investigation into the mysterious disappearance of Simon Isiaho Shange, the principal of Munyuki Secondary School in Lugari, Kakamega County.
Mr. Shange reportedly went missing on Monday, November 3, 2025, after he was said to have been involved in a road accident along the busy Eldoret–Malaba highway.
According to reports, his vehicle was later found crashed near Turbo, but he was nowhere to be found.
His mobile phone has been switched off since that day, leaving his family and friends deeply worried.
In a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account , Mr. Etale expressed concern over the unclear circumstances surrounding the principal’s disappearance.
The principal of Munyuki High School in Lugari, Mr. Simon Isiaho Shange, has been missing since Monday after he was allegedly involved in a road accident along the Eldoret Malaba highway.

He further appealed to the authorities to take immediate action, saying the matter could not be ignored.
“I appeal to the police and other relevant agencies to investigate this matter and help us find Mwalimu,” Etale added.
Sources close to the family said Mr. Shange had left home early Monday morning to visit his school and check on his students, who were preparing to sit for the KCSE examinations.
He was expected to return home later that evening, but he never did.
Family members say they began to worry when repeated calls to his phone went unanswered.
After learning about a road accident involving a vehicle similar to his, they rushed to the scene only to find his car badly damaged and the driver missing.
“We are living in fear because we don’t know what happened to him,” said a close relative who asked not to be named.
“His car was found, but he was gone. We just want to know where he is.”
The disappearance has shocked residents of Lugari and the teaching fraternity, with many calling for faster investigations.
Teachers and parents at Munyuki Secondary School described Mr. Shange as a dedicated educator who cared deeply for his students.
“He was always there for the learners,” said one teacher.
“It’s heartbreaking that he went missing just when the candidates were about to begin their exams.”
