Ichung’wah Lifts the Lid on the Late Raila's Troubled Thoughts on Infrastructure

Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah has shared new details about the late Raila Odinga’s strong feelings toward Kenya’s development challenges.

Speaking during a local television interview on Sunday,  Ichung’wah said Raila was deeply worried about how Kenya was performing when it came to major infrastructure projects.

According to Ichung’wah, Raila believed that infrastructure was the engine that pushes a country forward.

He said the former Prime Minister often encouraged leaders to invest in roads, housing, and other essential facilities.

To Raila, if Kenya did not move fast enough, it would struggle to compete with its neighbours who were already making bold steps in development.

The MP explained that Raila felt disappointed that Kenya still had many poor roads and unfinished projects, even after many years of government promises.

He was said to be concerned about everyday Kenyans who rely on these facilities to travel, do business, and live decent lives.

Raila feared that a slow pace in development would hold back economic growth and the country’s progress.

Ichung’wah described Raila as a leader who understood that infrastructure is more than concrete, steel, and buildings.

To him, it represented better opportunities for citizens and a stronger future for the nation.

He often pushed the government to focus on big projects such as modern highways, affordable housing, and improved public transport systems.

The MP added that Raila’s voice was always strong when he talked about these issues.

Even though leaders did not always agree with him, they respected his commitment to Kenya’s growth.

Ichung’wah said that the former Prime Minister never lost his desire to see Kenya succeed, no matter the political situation.

As the country continues to reflect on Raila’s life and leadership, Ichung’wah hopes that those in power will take his concerns seriously.

He said that honouring Raila’s legacy should include completing major developments that improve people’s lives.
