List of Presidents, Ex Presidents & Foreign Leaders Who Graced Raila's State Funeral

Presidents Hassan Sheikh Mohamud (Somalia), Taye Selassie (Ethiopia), Tanzania’s Vice President Philip Mpango and his South 

Sudanese counterpart .

Rebecca Nyandeng were among many foreign leaders who attended the National Memorial Service for Raila Odinga at Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi, on October 17, 2025.

Others who attended the service included former Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete and Rwanda’s Minister of Internal Affairs Vincent Biruta, who represented that country’s President Paul Kagame.

In addition, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki announced that the government had received condolences from several leaders across Africa and the world.

Among the presidents who sent their messages were Uganda’s Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Cyril Ramaphosa (South Africa), John Mahama (Ghana), and Hakainde Hichilema (Zambia).

Others included Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Adama Barrow (Gambia), Evariste Ndayishimiye (Burundi), Bola Tinubu (Nigeria), and Felix Tshisekedi (DRC), among others.

World leaders who sent their condolences included India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, United Nations Secretary-General .

Antonio Guterres, and World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
