The remarks came after opposition leaders, including Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa and former Chief Justice David Maraga, were caught up in teargas while leading a procession to commemorate those killed during the June 25, 2024 demonstrations.
Taking to his X account on Thursday evening, Itumbi sarcastically congratulated Kalonzo before turning his attention to how the opposition leader left the scene as tensions escalated.
"My friend, @skmusyoka, I agree with you, today you really worked hard," Itumbi wrote.
He then claimed the Wiper leader sprinted to his vehicle while some of his supporters remained behind.
"In fact, you worked so hard that you literally sprinted to your car, leaving your women supporters to find their own way," he stated.
The presidential ally went on to question why opposition leaders continue mobilising young people and supporters for demonstrations while allegedly moving to safety when confrontations break out.
Itumbi further mocked Kalonzo by suggesting that he should now take a break and enjoy his stay at the Grand Melia Hotel in Arusha, Tanzania.
"So now, Mr. Presidential Candidate, sir, take a well earned break. Relax, unwind, and enjoy the ambience and massage at the GRAND MELIA Arusha. You've earned it!" he added.
