Several Members of Parliament have declared their intentions to run for gubernatorial seats in 2027.
Among them are Tim Wanyonyi, Babu Owino, James Gakuya, Didmus Barasa, David Ochieng' and Mark Nyamita.
They will face stiff competition from their opponents that will make some if them lose.
However, there are two among them whose chances of becoming county bosses in 2027 are high. These two MPs are Babu Owino and Didmus Barasa.
Babu Owino is the Member of Parliament for Embakasi East, Nairobi County.
Two different opinion polls are indicating that he is the most preferred Nairobi gubernatorial candidate.
The latest poll that was conducted by Center for African Progress indicated that Babu Owino is the most preferred gubernatorial candidate with 36%.
Dennis Waweru is the second with 33% while incumbent Johnson Sakaja has 14%.
Another poll that was previously conducted by ISS also placed Babu ahead with 28.1%. Irungu Nyakera was second with 19.2%. Governor Sakaja was third with 16.4%.
In Bungoma, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa is leading the race to succeed outgoing governor Kenneth Lusaka with 27% popularity.
He is followed closely by Westlands MP Timothy Wanyonyi with 24.5%.
In the third place is Zachariah Barasa who has 20.1% with the former Bungoma governor Wickliffe Wangamati.
Coming fourth with 16.1%. Allan Fwamba is the last in the race with 3.6% with 8.4% of the population are yet to decide.
If these poll are true reflection of the next election outcome then Babu Owino and Didmus Barasa are likely to become governors in 2027.
