“They Threatened My Life” — Shock as ODM’s Indimuli Quits West Kabras Race, Endorses UDA Candidate

The West Kabras MCA by-election has taken an unexpected twist after Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Edward Indimuli dramatically withdrew from the race just days before voters head to the polls.

Speaking to the press on Monday, February 23, Indimuli announced that he would no longer participate in the contest, citing serious security concerns. 

“I have stepped down and endorse this young man who is in UDA. They have threatened my life,” he declared.

In a move that has sent shockwaves through Kakamega County politics, Indimuli publicly endorsed United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Elphas Shalakha. 

He described Shalakha as a promising and capable leader who deserves the opportunity to serve the people of West Kabras.

The decision is widely seen as a significant setback for senior ODM figures, including Oburu Oginga, Junet Mohamed, and Gladys Wanga, who have been at the forefront of strengthening the party’s grassroots presence ahead of future elections. 

ODM had been considered a strong contender in the by-election, making Indimuli’s exit a major blow to its local strategy.

Political observers say the endorsement could significantly shift voter dynamics in favor of UDA. With only days remaining before the vote, Shalakha now enters the final stretch with added momentum and heightened visibility.
